Rotary Club of Bombay West along with several other Clubs co-hosted an Organ Donation Awareness Talk for the students of Sathaye College at Vile Parle East, Mumbai on 1st July, 2016.
The keynote speaker was Dr.Girish Trivedi, 55, a general physician by profession, who has been doing what others wouldn’t do given a choice. He voluntarily does eye enucleation (the process of removing the eyeballs from the donor's eyes and depositing them in an eye bank) for free. Trivedi, a Kandivali resident, who started this voluntary work towards the end of 2012, has done about 868 enucleations till date.
Dr.Trivedi talked to the students about their participation in this process of creating awareness and removing the myths and misconceptions associated with organ and tissue donations.
